Can every dent be fixed without painting?
Most hail dents can, but not all. Paintless dent repair works when the paint is unbroken and the metal has been stretched rather than torn. Where the paint has cracked or a panel is creased sharply, that panel needs touch-up or replacement instead.
What makes a dent a PDR job
- The paint over the dent is intact — no cracks, chips or flaking.
- The dent is shallow and rounded, which is what hail produces.
- The technician can reach the back of the panel, or the dent is accessible to glue-pull tools from the outside.
- The panel has not been previously filled, which changes how the metal responds.
When it is not enough on its own
Sharp creases, torn metal and dents on the edge of a panel are outside what PDR does well. If the paint is cracked, forcing the metal back will open the crack further. In those cases the panel gets touch-up or replacement, documented on the claim, while the rest of the car is still repaired paintlessly.
How we decide
The Light Booth inspection comes first. Every panel is assessed under controlled reflection, and the plan is built from what is actually there rather than from a guess made in the parking lot.
