Every panel hail hits

Roof The largest surface and the most exposed. Dents here create stress points and, left alone, can lead to water leaks.

An aluminum body on a steel frame

Unlike most trucks in its class, the F-150's exterior panels are aluminum while the frame underneath stays steel. Aluminum resists being moved and does not have steel's memory, so the metal is worked in smaller increments with more heat control — rushing it work-hardens the panel instead of reshaping it. The technique is the same on the F-150 Lightning; the battery pack sits low in the frame and does not change how the body panels are repaired.

Big flat surfaces, a lot of visible dents

The hood, roof and bed sides are some of the largest flat panels on any vehicle we see, which is exactly where hail leaves the most dents per square foot. Light Booth inspection is what finds every one of them before the repair starts, not an eyeball check in daylight.
