Can you repair aluminum panels and Teslas?
Yes. Aluminium panels and electric vehicles including Tesla are repaired paintlessly, but they take longer than steel and need a technician who works on them regularly. We repair Tesla Model 3, Model Y, Model S and Model X, Rivian R1T and R1S, and the Ford F-150 Lightning, alongside conventional vehicles.
Why aluminium is different
Aluminium does not have the memory steel has. It resists being moved and then holds the new shape, so the metal has to be worked in smaller increments and with more heat control. Rushing it work-hardens the panel. The result is the same finish, it simply takes more time on the tool.
Electric vehicles
The panel work is the same discipline, but the layout is not. Battery packs, high-voltage runs and sensor housings change which access points exist behind a panel, and glass roofs common on EVs mean the roof itself often cannot be worked from inside. Knowing that before the car is on the lift is what keeps the job a two-day job.
Why PDR matters more on these cars
Repainting an aluminium or EV panel is expensive and permanently visible in the vehicle history. On vehicles where resale value is a large number, keeping the factory finish is worth more than it is on an average commuter car.
